Fashion Foreword: Store openings, spring sales, and more

What a time to be alive. The sun is shining because global warming is a thing, people are supporting Donald Trump for various insane reasons, and the lakes are thawing. We're prescribing a round (or two) of shopping to cure that stir craziness that always comes with the end of winter and beginning of spring. We're talking about a season of rebirth, after all, and that means you should totally buy something new.

So visit a new store, and keep them around by buying things. That’s an equation even a Trump supporter could handle.

The Wedge's Cliché has a ton of cute new spring stuff on its racks, and the best part is that it’s all COLORFUL! Aren’t you tired of wearing gray and black? (Ha, never.) When the sun is out and 46 degrees feels like a heatwave, why not take a stroll down Lyndale and fill up your closet for spring? Proper & Prim has been posting some pretty cute stuff on its Instagram, too. Get your cardio and then reward yourself with a sundress. Seems fair to us. (Cliché, 2403 Lyndale Ave. S./Proper & Prim, 2743 Lyndale Ave. S.)

Hazel & Rose is open! The store, which is located in the Broadway building in northeast Minneapolis, opened its doors last weekend. “I have had so much fun finding designers who are dedicated to transparency, sustainability, and ethical production — all while creating truly beautiful goods," says owner Emma Olson. Hazel & Rose carries denim from Imogene & Willie, and also stocks, among other brands, the buzzy local line Hackwith Designs. (Hazel & Rose, 945 Broadway St. NE, Minneapolis)

In case you didn’t know, the North Loop’s casual-cool boutique Roe Wolfe will move into the recently vacated Arrow space in early April. The Washington Avenue location closes on March 24, so you’ve still got time to stop in and check out their blowout sale, which is crazy awesome: Buy three items and get one free. Owner Ashley Kilcher says they plan to reopen with a bunch of new brands, like Eleven Paris and Spitfire Sunglasses, in the next few weeks. (Roe Wolfe, 113 Washington Ave. N., Minneapolis)

Do you ever go all the way out to Maple Grove’s Arbor Lakes mall? Yeah, me either. However, in case you’ve got family members out there or you really just want to eat at a suburban Olive Garden, mark April 16 on your calendar. A bunch of local retailers, including Apricot Lane and Flaunt, are throwing a spring pop-up sale with prices up to 90 percent off. Take your mom, take your fav sorority sisters or girlfriends, get some good deals and then stop by that Olive Garden. Curbside to Go is totally delicious after a day of shopping. (Spring Pop-Up Sale: April 16, Arbor Lakes, Space B4. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
