There’s plenty of deals going on in our fair cities this Valentine's Day weekend. If you’re single, you can hit up some sales with your girlfriends, and if you’re not, well, going to dinner on V-Day is kinda cheesy anyway, isn’t it? Just make your partner buy you a dress instead. That’s romantic, right?
Len Druskin leaves Galleria for Southdale
Full disclosure: I worked for Len Druskin for four years, which is why I’m sad to see the Minneapolis-based family-owned flagship store leave its longtime home in the Galleria for Southdale. (The company is approaching 40 years in business in the Twin Cities.) The new Len Druskin lives next door to LEN on the ground floor of the mall, and it offers only designer brands – no clearance, no 50-percent-off merchandise. The half-and-half mix previously filling up Galleria didn’t prove very popular with longtime customers, so they’re going back to their full-price, upscale roots with brands like Pam & Gela, Spiritual Gangster, and Bailey 44, as well as the premium denim they’re known for. The new store is already open, leaving many wondering what will fill the giant space at Galleria, which has become increasingly more corporate than local.
