ENVISION: Artopia designer Marissa Bridges
Designs by Marissa Bridges
This Friday, MNfashion will commence Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week with ENVISION: Artopia at Graves 601 Hotel. Now in its 13th season, the runway show will feature fall and winter collections from 13 local designers and boutiques.
Designer Marissa Bridges, who started her namesake brand five years ago, will be showing for the second year at ENVISION. Her collection, titled Casual Luxe, will feature seven complete looks, including three dresses and a mix of tops and skirts.
"It's the idea of luxury fabrics made in a more casual way," Bridges says. "You can mix and match the pieces to dress them up or down."

The garments are feminine with classic silhouettes and black lace, gold sequins, and watercolor floral prints.
Inspired by her grandma, Bridges began sewing at age 10. The first thing she can remember making was a Christmas pillow, and she started creating clothing in high school. She currently works for Target corporate, designing home items like bedding, pillows, and bath mats. Working full-time and running her own fashion line keeps her busy, but she loves it.
"This is my passion," Bridges says of her fashion brand. "There's no one telling me I can't do something or I can't afford fabrics. This is my baby and my vision that I'm able to see through from start to finish."
The past four months have been busy as Bridges prepares for ENVISION, and she is eager to see her collection on the runway.
"That's the best part," Bridges says. "There's so much time and money that goes into it and it's emotional. It makes you feel proud. You don't really see the collection come together until that moment when it's on the runway. It's an overwhelming feeling."
In addition to Bridges, designers and boutiques Atmosfere, Caroline Hayden, Claire Ward, Cliché, Cocoon by Elizabeth Geisler, Idle Child, Jenny Carle, Karma Boutique, Kjurek, Martin Patrick3, Roe Wolfe, and Tessa Louise will show fall/winter collections. Accessories designers include Cayetano Legacy Collection, Rewind, and Stephanie Lake.
Prior to the runway show, guests can sip cocktails, bid on silent auction items, shop the Dressing Room's pop-up boutique, and browse art curated by RAW Visual Artist Gallery. An official after-party will be held at Cosmos on the fourth floor of Graves Hotel with free admission for all event attendees.
