Doctor Who reunion slated for Minneapolis Comic Con
Get ready to see a lot more Dalek and TARDIS costumes at Minneapolis Comic Con. There's about to be a Doctor Who reunion of sorts at the convention early next month.
Wizard World just announced that Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor, will appear at Minneapolis Comic Con along with his onscreen companion Karen Gillan.
For those of you not up to speed on your Doctor Who lore, Smith won over fans as the bow tie-wearing, fez-friendly 11th Doctor from seasons five through seven of the latest Doctor Who reboot. Gillan played his companion Amy Pond, the spirited Scot who joins the Doctor on his adventures with her fiancee (and eventual husband) Rory.
Since leaving the TARDIS for the last time and making way for the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, Smith has taken to the stage as the suave and scary Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. He's also one of the stars of Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, Lost River slated for release later this year -- we're already imagining the "Hey Girl" crossover Tumblrs with the two heartthrobs.
Meanwhile, Gillan won the coveted role of Nebula in the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy film, also starring Chris Pratt. Just last year, Gillan revealed that she had shaved off her iconic red locks in preparation for the film, which will premiere this August.
Other big-name stars whose appearances at Comic Con were recently announced include Nathan Fillion of Firefly and Castle fame, and Robert Englund, the man behind Freddy Kruger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
