Cowles Center names new executive director
Eyebrows where raised when it was announced a few weeks ago that Frank Sonntag would be stepping down as executive director at the brand-new Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts -- a mere 10 months after his hiring and two months after its grand opening.
Fortunately, the venue has been quick to name his successor, as it has just announced today that Lynn A. Von Eschen will be taking over the position in January.
"The chance to work within one of the Twin Cities most historical venues for the performing arts is incredibly exciting," he says. "However, even more electrifying is the opportunity to collaborate with the local dance community in providing them a magnificent home to showcase their artistic talents."
Von Eschen is no stranger to the Twin Cities performance community, as he has spent many years working at the Ordway Center as vice president and general manager, as well as being the primary staff liaison to the organization's arts partners. He also previously led the marketing and development departments of the Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis.
