Time to let your geek flag fly. Comic Con is coming to Minneapolis this May.
For three days, Minneapolis will host stars, artists, writers, and vendors as part of Wizard World's national Comic Con tour. Comic Con will take place -- where else? -- at the Minneapolis Convention Center May 2-4, 2014. This event joins Meta Con, CONvergence, Spring Con, and Fall Con as a local celebration of all things geek-chic.
While it won't be as overwhelmingly huge as San Diego Comic Con or New York Comic Con, convention attendees will be able to get a smaller version of the Comic Con experience by attending panels and checking out vendors, as well as getting autographs and snapping pictures of high-profile stars. Be warned: Just like at pretty much every other convention, some of these stars charge a steep price for their signatures and photos.
Now, to get down to it. There will be some pretty big heavy-hitters in the sci-fi and fantasy worlds in attendance. Here are just a few of the stars that will be in Minneapolis this May:
Brush up on your "Oh, Mr. Frodo!" impression (just kidding, don't do that) for Sean Astin and another Middle Earth vet Manu Bennett of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Fresh from knocking out Jonah Hill in The Wolf of Wall Street, Jon Bernthal will be at the convention with his Walking Dead costars Laurie Holden and Michael Rooker.
Get ready for television throwback glory: Spike (James Marsters) and Xander (Nicholas Brendon) from Buffy, Ian Ziering of 90210 and the gloriously campy Sharknado, original Hulk Lou Ferrigno, and Tommy the Green Ranger from Power Rangers (Jason David Frank) will all be at the convention.
And oh yeah, the one-and-only William Shatner.
Renowned artists Neal Adams, Kevin Maguire, Mike Grell, Michael Golden, and plenty of others will be around showing off their sketches. You can even pre-order original sketches on the event website by emailing the some of the artists so you're sure to take home a treasure.
Programming for the convention panels and vendors have yet to be released.
General admission passes are available for individual days ($35 on Friday, $45 on Saturday, $40 on Sunday) and for the whole convention ($75 for all three days). Prices will go up by $5 for attendees buying tickets at the door. The three-day VIP experience -- which gets you a VIP badge, a limited edition lithograph, a coupon for a CGC Graded Comic, and early admission to the convention runs $199. Got kids under 10? Adults with paid tickets can bring up to two children in for free.
