City Pages Fall Arts issue is online
Throw out your summertime guides for the cities, our Fall Arts issue is hitting the streets as we speak. If you can't make it to the newsstands you can also read about interesting people and recommended events online right now (and throughout the season).
Standup comedian Nick Swardson is known by fans of Reno 911 as Terry, a flamboyant hooker on roller skates (is there any other kind?). He is also notorious for telling perhaps one of the few remaining fart jokes out there that is genuinely dark and funny. The St. Paul native is primed for even greater exposure in 2011 with his upcoming Comedy Central show, Pretend Time with Nick Swardson. City Pages writer (and standup comic himself) Bryan Miller spent some time with the comedian as he prepares for his big year.
Whether you've been shouting at the screen or rooting for Minnesota artist Miles Mendenhall, you'll want to check out Matt Smith's profile on the Work of Art contestant, Game On.
Quinton Skinner's piece, Being Frank, explores the career Frank Theatre's artistic director Wendy Knox.
Finally, looking for expanded Fall Arts listings? They're actually available year round in our online calendar.
