As a seasoned local designer, Caroline Hayden has shown collections at numerous fashion events, including MNfashion's Emerging Designer Showcase, ENVISION: Artopia, the Shows, and Red Dress. Known for her elegant gowns and feminine style, Hayden has transitioned into ready-to-wear, creating one-of-a-kind, tailored separates.
This season, she presented her fall/winter collection at Friday's ENVISION: Artopia, and will present her spring/summer 2014 collection at the Shows. Hayden says she feels lucky to be involved in both events, and has been busy preparing for the runway.

For the Shows, Hayden will present 10 to 12 looks. Her last collection featured lady-like silhouettes and stiff fabrics. This go-around, she decided to mix it up with lightweight fabrics, empire waists, trapeze-style dresses, and layers of draped silk.
"It's about feeling free in what you're wearing while still looking chic and feminine," she says.
It typically takes three weeks to finish one gown, and Hayden has been diligently preparing this collection since July. In addition to being active in the fashion world, Hayden is a new mom to Oliver, who was born this summer on June 24.

"Being a mom is awesome, and I'm still just as driven as before -- maybe even more so," Hayden says. "I'm lucky that I've been designing for over 10 years now. While there's still so much ahead of me, I'm old enough and experienced enough to be able to juggle a newborn and a growing business."
Hayden will be showing her collection this Thursday along with Idle Child, Emily Trevor, and Lindsey Hopkins. The evening before, designers Christopher Straub, Cocoon, Lisa Hackwith, and Samantha Rei will show their Spring/Summer '14 collections.
"The Shows is the closest representation to a runway experience you would have in New York City," Hayden says. "It's well-run, well-attended, and the designers represent the best of Minnesota fashion."
