Come celebrate the latest release of this U of M literary journal filled with poetry, nonfiction, fiction, and all things in between. Tonight will also mark the official launch of dislocate.org, which is up and running and currently includes advice on choosing a therapist, thoughts on Lady Gaga's cigarette glasses, and an interview with fiction writer Laura Owen. Barrie Jean Borich, award-winning author of My Lesbian Husband, will give a reading at 8:30 p.m. The evening will also feature a cash bar, food, literary games, and late-night dancing. Free. 8 p.m. to midnight.
The Lovely Creatures Cabaret
(Ground Zero, 15 Fourth St. NE, Minneapolis; 612.378.5115)
This performance features naughty antics and other debauchery that should entertain all. Giza Sangria, Lil' Lush Fuchsia, and Holly Zeigfield will give their best performances in burlesque; Kajal will twist her tummy with belly dance; and Zyra will catch your eye in the sky with her aerial performances. In the nail-biting category, Oops! The Entertainer will pull daredevil stunts, while Jonah the Destroyer and Cantankerous folk provide music. Unsure of your future? Have a chat with lady luck as Lady Magpie reads Tarot cards. 18+. $6-$8. 10 p.m. (Photo by Chantal Legand)
