Brit's hosts Hitchcock trivia in celebration of 'The 39 Steps'

The Guthrie is teaming up with downtown Minneapolis mainstay Brit's Pub to celebrate the theater's current play, The 39 Steps. An evening centered around Hitchcock, there will be pub trivia and a screening free and open to the public tonight.  [jump]

The Guthrie play closely follows the original 1935 Hitchcock film The 39 Steps and the novel by John Buchan, but turns the thrilling suspense on its head by featuring 150 characters performed by four actors in a silly, comical style. Directed by Joel Sass, the production focuses on a thrilling spy story of the film, but adds a humorous and engaging interaction throughout, creating a riveting and very entertaining evening of theater.

The quirky and suspenseful whodunit production will be onstage at the Guthrie until December 19, and includes actors Robert O. Berdahl, Sarah Agnew, Jim Lichtscheidl, and Luverne Seifert as the only four actors in the cast given the unbelievable task of bringing 150 personalities to life.

Tonight's special event at Brit's celebrates this popular play with Hitchcock based trivia at 6:30 p.m. hosted by John Cosgrove, followed by a screening of the original 1935 film The 39 Steps at 7:15 p.m. with $4 pints of Amstel Light and Newcastle Brown.
