Northstar Pro Bike Races: Uptown Criterium

(Calhoun Square at 31st and Lake Street, Minneapolis)

The races started earlier this week, and continue on to Uptown Minneapolis. The Uptown Minneapolis Criterium requires incredibly tight turns at frantic speeds. Stone Arch Festival

Each Father’s Day weekend, the Stone Arch Festival comes alive with art, music, and family activities. Over 250 artists will be on hand to share their work and host hands-on activities. Live music will be performed onstage, with acts including the Blind Shake, Greg Grease, the Sweet Colleens, and Actual Wolf. Vehicle enthusiasts should take note as well, as there will be a retro car show, plus motorcycle and off-road showcases. Solstice River XIX & Global Water Dances

(Stone Arch Bridge, 1758 W. River Rd. N., Minneapolis; 612-230-6400)

After 19 years, this season's Solstice River will be the final show. Each summer, the Solstice River creates a site-specific performance in northeast Minneapolis. Dancers and other talents, each carrying a radio broadcasting music from KBEM, create movement and color from the Stone Arch Bridge, on top of nearby roofs, along the banks of the river, and some years even via kayaks and canoes on the water. The event is part of Global Water Dances, a 24-hour international event where various performance groups around the world celebrate the most precious resource, water, through a series of dances and performances. 5 p.m.

And now it's time for the exhausting fifth and final race of the circuit. The Stillwater Criterium is a notoriously cruel finale, as riders must repeatedly scale Chilkoot Hill on every lap.
