Hold on to your seats Minneapolis, because the mother of all art fair weekends is lifting off as we speak. The biggest and probably most well known is the Uptown Art Fair, but that's not all that is in store for art lovers over the next few days. The Loring Park Art Festival and Powederhorn Art Fair will be rocking and rolling as well.
A three-in-one weekend may seem a tad overwhelming, so here are a few tips on what not to miss. Metro-Transit is getting in on the action too, with free bus rides on their Art Hop. Nice Ride Minnesota will be hosting a free bike valet at some of the events too.
Powderhorn Art Fair (Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Last, but certainly not least, the Powderhorn Art Fair is celebrating their 19th annual event where art and community come together to help support the park's initiatives. Money raised from the exhibition will go towards programs like a new teen center, photography lab, and a recording studio. Lined around the charming Powderhorn Lake, 180 artists will display their works in all media, like talented local artist and painter Carol Swan. By using her intuition, Swan is able to create wonderfully bright and inspirational artwork based on unblocking energy and creating balance, and some even with a 3D effect. With other painters, photographers, mixed media artists and more gathered around the lake too, the atmosphere is eclectic and welcoming, surely worthwhile.
