5 free things to do this week

itemprop

This week in free things to do we have a few beer parties, some rooftop yoga, and a coloring night for grownups. Come take a look.

Annual Outdoor Movies Series
(Brit's Pub, 1110 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis; 612-332-3908)

While there are many movie nights on various lawns, Brit’s annual outdoor film series has the advantage of having beer and booze on tap. Bring a blanket and some friends, and sprawl out on the grass. Tonight's film is Suffragette, a 2015 flick about the 20th-century British activists who fought for women's right to vote. Drink specials include Strongbow and Amstel Light. 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Also at Brit's this week:

Bend It at Brit's

Free yoga on the roof; skyscrapers will be your view. Bring a mat for this one-hour session presented by YogaFit Studios. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Urban Growler Second Anniversary Party

(Urban Growler Brewing Company, 2325 Endicott St., St. Paul; 651-340-5793)

Urban Growler celebrates turning two with a fun hump-day party. The women-owned brewery will be serving up special pints on the hour, such as Big Boot Rye IPA, Orchard Saison, Imperial Smoked Chipotle Porter, and -- maybe -- even some Wild Rice Ale. For those who appreciate the weird, check out the Rhubarb Bubble Brew, a non-carbonated bubble-tea beer made with the Rhubarb Wit. There will be music (Dan “Daddy Squeeze” Newton and Dos Guys), food (chili dogs, carnitas tacos), and non-alcoholic treats like blueberry soda. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Coloring Night

(Bauhaus Brew Labs, 1315 Tyler St. NE, Minneapolis; 612-276-6911)

You don’t have to be a kid to color. Adults have long been doing it in secret as a relaxing, meditative activity. This Thursday, the Grown-up Club will be inviting folks to get in touch with their inner zen and color with friends (or maybe a chill date) while enjoying a few brews. Colored pencils and other materials will be provided, or bring your own books and markers, crayons, and watercolors. And don’t worry, you only have to stay in the lines if you want to. 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Pop-Up Beer Garden

(The Bachelor Farmer, 50 Second Ave. N., Minneapolis; 612-206-3920)

Drink outside while you can. At this special beer event patrons can choose from Indeed Brewing's Day Tripper and their kettle-soured pale ale, Lucy. 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday.
