Dave Coulier is of course known as a comedian and actor, but around these parts, and other NHL towns, he's also recognized as a hockey fan. "I wore that Red Wings sweater on Full House for many seasons," he says. "And boy, the Red Wings fans come out of the woodwork and want to talk about that." He still follows the game, of course, and wasn't too disappointed with his team's elimination in this year's playoffs. "They snuck in this year, for their 23rd consecutive playoff appearance, which is a triumph of sorts. These playoffs have been great, with teams like the Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild winning games." Coulier played hockey in high school, which launched his comedy career. "Sitting in the locker room you have a captive audience of 20 guys," he recalls. "I would do impressions of my teammates, coaches, and people we all knew. It was just fun." It was his younger brother, though, who really taught him how to do impressions and voices. "We'd stay up late at night in our bunk beds, and he would imitate our relatives. I just copied what he did, and it became a natural fit for me." Coulier is currently touring North America, building a new hour, called Glorified Birthday Clown. "I took eight years off of doing standup, and now I am having more fun doing it than I ever have. The shows are sold out, with a lot of Full House fans." He adds that the fan base from that program ranges from those who watched the show originally to younger folks who have found it in syndication. The series has been very good to him on a number of fronts. "People ask me all the time, 'Do you still get residuals?'" he says. "I tell them, 'I don't mean to brag, but if I wanted to, I could buy a new T-shirt every week. Long sleeve,'" he adds, before pausing. "Well, now I'm just rubbing it in." 18+; 21+ later shows.
