Could there be a pairing more natural than beer and bacon? If there is, we don't want to hear about it. Neighborhood institution Stanley's Northeast Bar Room is updating its popular craft-beer festival with an injection of grease for 2014. The event features around 50 local and national breweries for you to sample, including favorites like Fulton, New Belgium, Founders, and Deschutes, plus young guns like Big Wood, Northgate, and 612. Oskar Blues brewery, which recently expanded its range to the Twin Cities from its home base in Colorado, will be sending an artist to do live painting in honor of Art-A-Whirl, along with a few kegs of thoroughly innovative concoctions. Select beers from a range of breweries will be matched up with one of Stanley's craft-bacon flavors, which include pecan applewood, candied jalapeño, and maple chili, with a few no-brainers like bourbon and Caribbean jerk. In addition to the pork and suds, the event will offer live music, photobooths, the potentially hazardous drinking game Hammerschlagen, and vendors like Tot Boss food truck and Tollefson Meats.
