Each year, RetroRama fuses history with fashion, inviting local designers to take a page of inspiration from one of the museum's current exhibitions. This year's looks will be funky and fabulous, as "Sights, Sounds, and Soul: Twin Cities through the lens of Charles Chamblis" will be the show of honor. The photography exhibit features images capturing the Twin Cities African American experience in the '70s and '80s, from the glittery nightclub scene to low-key family trips to the lakes. Participating designers this year include Samantha Rei, Ariel Simone, Kerry Riley, Emma Berg, and Max Lohrbach. Singer Cynthia Johnson of "Funkytown" fame will be on hand to model a few getups and perform a few songs, while local legend Fancy Ray McCloney will play emcee. DJ Larry "Spider" Hamilton, who is featured looking amazing in Chamblis's exhibition (check out the awesome shot of him in a black-and-white suit and gold glasses!), will be spinning tunes. The evening will also include cocktails and drink demos from Du Nord, and bingo.
