In a typical week at a typical comedy club, audiences can expect to see material that's anywhere from several minutes to several decades old. Crash & Burn takes a different approach. Here, four highly experienced comedians begin the week with an empty notebook and a head full of ideas. Then, audiences watch these veterans create 20 minutes of new jokes by the end of Saturday's late show. Now in its third incarnation, Crash & Burn is the brainchild of Acme stalwart Tim Slagle. In this iteration, he'll be joined by Tracey Ashley, Tim Bedore, and Pete Lee. The group offers a variety of comedic approaches, but all have a track record as outstanding writers. Slagle can be counted on to make hilarious hay from the day's political news, while Lee and Bedore mine the depths of the weirdly observational. Ashley's sharp storytelling will likely make her the voice of reason in this group. For hardcore comedy nerds, Crash & Burn offers a unique opportunity to watch seasoned comedy veterans as they take brand-new premises and gradually add punchlines, twists, and tags each night. Like a game of telephone, each show will bear some resemblance to the one before, while also morphing into something new. By the end of the week, what started as loosely organized half-ideas should be recognizable as polished, professional comedy. 18+.
