Nick Griffin is coming to Minnesota this week for one reason and one reason only: babysitting. Oh, and he'll squeeze in some comedy, too. "My sister lives in St. Paul, so I'm coming out there to watch her kids for a few days so that she and her husband can get away," he says. "I'm just happy I can squeeze in a couple of shows while I'm there." With a career spanning more than two decades, Griffin has an impressive comedy résumé that includes appearances on Comedy Central, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and his 10th appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman earlier this month. While he's become a well-known name with a strong following, Griffin still lives for the road and to play to more intimate rooms like Comedy Corner Underground. "I started in the Midwest with a bunch of road guys, and I've always considered myself one of them," he says. "I love doing TV, and I'm pretty close to doing a one-hour special, but I still love performing for live crowds more than anything." While his comedy skills are on point, his babysitting skills may be even better. "We hang out, watch horror movies, and then I give them back to their parents. It's perfect."
