A timeless tale gets a high-tech makeover when the James Sewell Ballet unveils Dante's Inferno. Sewell's rendering of that iconic work takes on the mythology of morality and issues of crime and punishment from the 14th century to the present. New York artist Fritz Masten has designed an immersive video environment, and the company will be conducting a discussion around Inferno's central themes prior to opening, along with promoting the show through social media. The "Building the Inferno" video series gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the design process for the show, and literature professor John Kerr will lead a discussion, titled "An Infernal Exchange," at the JSB TEK BOX Theater at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27. The discussion will be live-streamed on the company's YouTube channel, so participants can interact directly in the dialogue by submitting questions and comments. Roll over, Dante.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 26. Continues through May 4, 2014
