Todd Barry

Very few comedians could pull off an entire show without any prepared material, but as anyone who has seen one of Todd Barry's shows can attest, he is definitely one of them. The quick-witted Barry has been doing standup for over 25 years. Last year, in an attempt to shake things up, he embarked on the Crowd Work Tour. Instead of presenting pre-written jokes, Barry left his material at home, and passed a microphone around the crowd, doing shows where he interacted with audience members for laughs. He had so much fun that he did it again later in the year, this time followed by a camera crew for a documentary that his friend Louis C.K. produced and released on his website last month. On the heels of its release, Barry has decided to do another Crowd Work Tour, which includes a stop at the Cedar Cultural Center. However, he says that he doesn't want "to be known as the guy who doesn't have an act," so this will be his last tour using this approach. All ages. (Photo by Mindy Tucker)
