As crucial as UGK was to the lifeblood of Southern rap, the passing of member Pimp C in 2007 put a premature end to a group that never truly fell off. But UGK's other half, the smooth-drawling, deep-voiced Bun B, has done an admirable job of maintaining their legacy while continuing to build his own. A solid run of solo albums kicked off in 2005 -- call it the Trill series, based off Trill, 2008's II Trill, and 2010's Trill O.G.. As integral to the representation of Texas hip-hop as Scarface, Bun's also had a gift for region-spanning teamups, with recent years seeing him nab a scene-stealing verse on Killer Mike's universally acclaimed R.A.P. Music and a solo record, Trill O.G.: the Epilogue, that compiles collaborations with everyone from Raekwon to 2 Chainz to Royce da 5'9". (Not to mention his titular contribution to Bun B's Rap Coloring and Activity Book.) When your voice is as authoritative and your keep-it-100 motivation is as unshakable as Bun's, you can record with anyone you want and still come out with the longest-lasting impression.
