Relive the scandal, the meltdowns, and the suspense of the 1994 Olympics with Tonya and Nancy: The Opera, a musical send-up of the biggest figure-skating drama the Olympics has ever seen. This Thursday Mixed Precipitation, which brings us Picnic Operetta each summer, remounts its satirical opera about the beautiful and elegant Nancy Kerrigan and the jealous Tonya Harding, who is willing to pull out all the stops to nab the gold. The fates of these two figure skaters are entwined in a tale where rivalry escalates to bloody revenge. With a libretto by Elizabeth Searle, music by Abigail Al-Doory Cross, and direction by Scotty Reynolds, Tonya & Nancy is packed with violence, passion, and, of course, ice-skating. In addition to the opera, the evening includes a selection from Shostakovich's Seven Romances performed in Russian, viewing of the Ladies' Long Program in Sochi, and trivia and prizes.
