Who knew that the waltz, that most genteel of art forms, was once considered risqué? A lady could lose her inhibitions being whirled around at a dizzying pace by a gentleman whose body was in contact with hers. Now, waltzing conjures up romance and the riveting synchrony of two dancers moving as one. Beyond Ballroom, a company of ballroom dance champs known for expanding the form beyond strappy shoes and glitter wear, takes the original "dirty dance" through its evolutionary paces, adding humor and contemporary music. On deck is a new variation of "Red Riding Hood Suite," in which Mr. Slyboots Wolf encounters a girl and her grandma who are not to be toyed with. Then special guest artists Andree Winett of Las Vegas and Tsha Marie from San Diego fuse sensual Latin dance and burlesque in an offbeat version of boy meets girl.
