It's been a big year for Pete Lee. The (formerly) local comedian joined the cast of VH1's Best Week Ever this past January, in April he performed on the Late Show with David Letterman for the very first time, and in May he got dancing lessons from Jason Derulo. This week, he'll kick off 2014 back where he began his comedy career: at Acme Comedy Co. A University of Minnesota grad, Lee started doing standup after a friend signed him up for Acme's open mic night without his knowledge or permission. "When I came back to school for my sophomore year, I had been working on material all summer but I had never actually performed it," he explains. "My friends signed me up, and I had like three hours to memorize my jokes and get a set together. I ended up destroying that night, and Louis, the owner of Acme, told me that if I kept writing I'd be welcomed back. So I did." Over a decade later, Lee has performed at over 500 colleges and comedy clubs all over the country, but still considers Acme his home club. "Acme is where I started, so it's always really special to go back." Lee will headline a week of shows at Acme beginning on New Year's Eve, which also features a special five-course dinner, making it the perfect way to ring in the New Year. 18+.
