Spearheaded by the husband-and-wife team of Joel and Inga Roberts, the Parlour Suite keep evolving. They began life as an acoustic-folk trio, but had morphed into a SoCal-sounding guitar-pop band by last year's mini-album, Everyone's Looking. They shape-shift yet again to impressive results on their new three-song EP, Pressure, toying with drum machines, shimmery electric guitars, and cool synthesizer washes with Grant Cutler in the producer's chair. The new sound works wondrously whether Inga's brassy twang or Joel's smoky rasp is taking the lead. Here's hoping a similarly styled full-length album follows close behind this too-short but highly appealing appetizer. With Communist Daughter.
