Minnesota's 10th Literary Death Match is poised to be an all-out raucous gathering thanks to the fantastic contestants and judges scheduled. In a new twist on the event, LDM will be teaming up with local literary sweethearts Paper Darts, Revolver, and the Tangential to bring you a free pre-show featuring all sorts of wild games. This includes an interactive fiction arcade machine called "The Choosatron," Mad Libs galore, and a scavenger hunt. Once the match starts at 7:30 p.m., hold on to your beer as four local talents will hash things out onstage, each reading something of their own before turning the mic over to a panel of judges, who will banter with the crowd and contestants. The star-studded lineup of contestants features slam poet Kyle "Guante" Myhre (who has won the National Poetry Slam not once, but twice), the Current's Jacquie Fuller (who also writes rad fiction), phenomenal slam poet Neil Hilborn, and author/artist/man-about-town Andy Sturdevant, whose recently released book of essays, Potluck Supper with Meeting to Follow, is garnering lots of positive buzz. Author Wang Ping will be judging participants on literary merit, comedian Courtney McLean will judge on performance, and writer Bill Corbett will be judging intangibles. 21+. 7:30 p.m.; 5:30 p.m. pre-show entertainment.
