Forget about ghouls and goblins. Nothing fills a parent's heart with dread like the notion of corralling a family through the consumer-congested corridors of the Mall of America. Knowing the anxiety evoked by the mere mention of the MOA, Comedy Suitcase has hit upon an ideal setting for The Harty Boys in the Mystery of the Mall of America of Death!, the group's third spoof of literature's boy detectives. As portrayed in prior episodes, Fred and Jack Harty are utterly inept heroes, literally stumbling over clues whilst spouting delightfully chauvinistic observations. However, because the brothers are played with unhinged optimism by co-creators Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen, it's hard not to cheer for the dimwits, especially when they're tangling with such dire dangers as a werepanda, an undead clown, and a marriage counselor. Revisiting the Harty household are Ari Hoptman and Leslie Ball as, respectively, the father and mother of the sibling detectives. Sulia Altenburg also reprises her role as the boys' exasperated friend, Becca Morgan, whose crush on the enigmatic Jonathan Johnson, played by Andrew Moy, is sure to add complications. With crowd favorite Andy Kraft also on hand to fill assorted roles, this family-friendly production should lend high-spirited hysterics to the Halloween season.
Sundays, 6 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 7 p.m. Starts: Oct. 6. Continues through Oct. 27, 2013
