Haunted houses can make for an evening of harmless fun, but nothing is quite as exhilarating as the potential of experiencing the real thing. Mounds Theatre has a genuine history of supernatural events, including unusual orbs that show up in photography, unexplained voices (believed to be an irritated man in the projection room), and specter sightings of an usher and a little girl. During the Halloween season, guests are invited to explore, communicate, and even attempt to record proof while on one-hour tours of the space, which is over 90 years old. Paranormal experts will lead the way, giving bits on the building's history, telling stories of past sightings, and taking pauses where folks will be welcome to try to gather their own evidence using recording devices, camera phones, and other tools brought from home. Call ahead to reserve a spot; tickets tend to sell out quick.
