In celebration of its seventh year, Vine Arts Center will present selections from each of its members. Mark Roberts's photography is not to be missed, and showcases the essence of subject John Cage using a Kirlian camera, which captures electrical coronal discharges. For the series, the musician/composer threw quarters onto film, creating a unique "portrait" of sorts. Kerry Pennings's landscape paintings almost eschew the representational, as brushstrokes generate forms and kinetic energy that speak of shifting planes and wind-blown hillsides. In her collages, Jessie Lawson's hybrid creatures cross species and cultural divides as they cavort with cats and brandish sheaves of grain with domestic bliss. Sue Horns Kolstad takes on fracking in her paper collage. Pottery, jewelry, oil and watercolor paintings, and mixed-media work are also part of the exhibition. The show is a great opportunity to examine the depth and breadth of artistry at work at Vine Arts. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, September 28.
