This week, Canterbury Park will be celebrating Labor Day weekend with a variety of special happenings and activities. Though the park is open on Thursday as usual, things really kick off Friday with Canterbury Uncorked. During the party, which starts at 6 p.m., guests will be able to sip wine with experts who will share their thoughts and knowledge on each varietal. Friday through Sunday, the Budweiser Clydesdales will be making appearances each day, pulling a vintage beer truck behind them as they trot along. Sunday brings the Festival of Champions, where equine enthusiasts will be able to watch 10 races featuring only Minnesota-bred horses. Finally, Monday boasts the ever-popular Wiener Dog Wars, where the short and floppy pups will take to the track in a race that will probably be less nail-biting and more adorable. This year, a thunderous 72 dachshunds will be competing for top honors. For more information on these events, visit www.canterburypark.com.
