Two of the Twin Cities most intriguing companies will team up this weekend for a special presentation exploring a distinct area of St. Paul. The Big Lowdown is a "roving adventure" from Live Action Set and Bedlam Theatre that is set amid Lowertown, exploring the landscape, sites, and "hidden treasures" of the neighborhood. Live Action Set's Noah Bremer directs the show. "Not only will people get to know Live Action Set and Bedlam, but they'll get to see Lowertown in a different light," Bremer says. The adventure begins at the Union Depot, and then splits the audience up into smaller groups. They'll find their way to one of 12 guides, who will then take them on a tour of several of the 10 locations set up in a three-block area around the Depot. This can includes sites such as the basement of a nearby storefront, an unkempt alley nearby, or even a functional bus stop. Each of the pieces has been created by a different group of artists using a simple story framework. "We're planning on having people in the street, or people playing instruments, so you are not sure if they are part of the show or part of the landscape. It will really add atmosphere in many different ways," Bremer says. Tickets can be reserved at www.bedlamtheatre.org.
