While those selecting the proper salad fork might not even notice the gentle background music in their white-linen-graced existence, chances are the kitchen crew is rocking something hardcore. These are the tattooed hired guns with the big knives. This Wednesday night at the Turf Club, those renegade souls of Gastro Non Grata will once again pull together the threads of fine-dining dishes and Minneapolis's rock 'n' roll scene to create a tapestry of good tastes, tunes, and brews. There's a reason chefs love these events. Gastro Non Grata: Intumescent Stockpile kicks off with small bites from Chef Landon Schoenefeld of Haute Dish. The guys from Surly Brewing will also be on hand, pairing beer with each item. Be sure to keep your ticket close at hand, as Clancey's Meat and Fish will donate some tasty products for the Dead Meat door prize. The music lineup for the evening includes a little honky tonk from Union Suits, White Bronco Buddies, and Year of the Horse, a Solid Gold side project. In between sets, DJ Shannon Blowtorch will keep the party going. In addition to all the fun, there will be an extra special guest in attendance: Andrew Zimmern, a.k.a. the man who eats the funky stuff. He'll be filming the party for his web series Appetite for Life.
