If you didn't get enough theater during the Minnesota Fringe Festival, or you just want to road trip to southern Minnesota, the Jon Hassler Theater in Plainview is hosting the Adventure Theater Festival over the next two weeks. Each weekend, different artists will make the trip to share some unique work. For the first weekend, that includes Four Humors' Lolita: A Three Man Show, which just finished a strong run at the Fringe. The play is a frantic and funny (sometimes in a very wrong way) interpretation of Stanley Kubrick's film. Sandbox Theatre will bring Suitcase, a string of 15-minute plays where all of the props need to fit into the titular item. And the always-innovative Live Action Set will give us The Great Water Rebellion, which will be presented as part of the city's Corn on the Cob Days parade on Sunday. For the second weekend, SunsetGun Productions performs Afterlife, Candy Simmons's one-woman show, while Dangerous Productions wraps up the festival with Happy Double Wedding, a marriage farce featuring five sets of identical twins — imagine the confusion! Visitors can enjoy the sites and sights around Plainview, or take in the Corn on the Cob Days activities during the first weekend (this includes a cow-chip tossing contest; always plenty of fun). Residents will get a chance to see what's up in the Twin Cities small-theater community as well. For a full schedule, visit www.jonhasslertheater.org.
