Saturday marks the 11th year of the Square Lake Film Festival, an event that invites folks to bike, scooter, or ride out to Stillwater for a day of local movie screenings, live music, and camping. Minneapolis folk band Dark, Dark, Dark will be headlining the event, and their set will include an original score for one of the films screened. Other acts include Is/Is, Body Omara, Moors & McCumber, Crimes, Greg Grease, Heavy Deeds, and Food Pyramid. In between jams, there will be movies and brief talks, including animated shorts and director Q&As. Free onsite camping will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so pack your camping gear if you plan to make a weekend of it. Icehouse, Summit Brewing, and Peace Coffee will be offering treats for sale throughout the day, although festival-goers are welcome to bring snacks and picnics to enjoy. Those looking to bike to the event should sign up online for the group commute via the Gateway Bike Trail. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Hub Bike Co-op (3020 Minnehaha Ave. S.). Have gear to bring? The Peace Coffee sag wagon will be traveling to the event as well, and can help carry items for those who have registered. For more info, visit squarelakefestival.com. The bike ride departs at 10 a.m.
