While bar games will never be Olympic sports, that doesn't make them any less competitive, challenging, or fun to cheer about. This Saturday, folks will be able to try their hand at classic games best enjoyed with beer at Buxtahooda, an event that is part pub crawl, part sporting event. Teams of five will roam downtown Minneapolis, stopping at bars such as Gluek's, Kieran's Irish Pub, the Pourhouse, and the Imperial Room, where they'll find different games to play at each stop. Challenges include beanbag tosses, a golf putt hole, pop-a-shot (basically, mini-basketball), ladder golf, beer pong, and a top-secret game to be revealed at the event. The top team takes home $500, and prizes will also be awarded for best costumes. There will be beer and other specials throughout the night at each location, and proceeds from the event will be donated to the Vikings Children's Fund. The evening ends with an awards ceremony and dance party at First Avenue starting at 7 p.m. Check-in is at Hubert's Sports Bar & Grill (600 First Ave. N., Minneapolis).
