Chris Yon and Taryn Griggs dance together with a depth and charge reminiscent of, say, a postmodern version of Fred and Ginger or Nureyev and Fonteyn. Their ongoing partnership since 2002 has become a kind of archaeological dig, layers of relationship stuff and dance tropes excavated that, according to a press release, "make something that is snappy, dense, ordered, and bewildering." Yon and Griggs place themselves squarely in the tradition of husband-and-wife vaudeville teams who spent years on the road perfecting their act. Watch them interact with droll humor and deadpan slapstick as they create an entire world constructed from precisely splintered images — a kinetic Joseph Cornell box — on the tiny Bryant-Lake Bowl stage.
