To attain proper hipster status, one must practice the three B's: beards, beer, and Brooklyn. This week, the Brooklyn Brewery Mash, a celebration of Brooklyn art, food, and music, comes to the Twin Cities. Added bonus: They're bringing beer! (Beard up at your discretion.) The Mash will host a multitude of events, at varying costs, all over town. From now through Friday, June 21, the Happy Gnome (498 Selby Ave., St. Paul; 651.287.2018) will act as Mash headquarters with special brews, cheese pairings, and giveaways each day from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, is Local 2 Ways at Haute Dish (119 Washington Ave. N., Minneapolis; 612.338.8484), featuring a multi-course beer-pairing dinner created by Landon Schoenefeld and Brooklyn Brewery chef Andrew Gerson for $85. Found Footage at the Heights Theater (3951 Central Ave. NE, Columbia Heights; 763.788.9079) is a hilarious compilation of found videos screening at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20 (tickets are $12). Later that evening, over in St. Paul at the Turf Club (1601 University Ave. W., St. Paul; 651.647.0486), is the NY Night Train Soul Clap and Dance Off. Here, competitors will boogie for a chance to win $100 and the opportunity to compete in NYC at the national dance-off (the party starts at 11 p.m. and admission is $7). But that's not all, my darling little hopheads. Sunday, June 23, at 4 p.m., folks will have the chance to witness Chaos Cooking for free. Attendees should bring an ingredient to cook and share. That same evening, chef Jamie Malone of Sea Change will be at the Soap Factory (514 Second St. SE, Minneapolis) with a special feast, co-sponsored by Dinner on the Farm, for $100. Visit brooklynbrewerymash.com for a complete list of events.
