"The Alley Oop podcast has taken over my life," says comedian Paul Morrissey of his new venture. "It's basically all the people I've ever wanted to interview in my own selfish way, and having the time to talk and ask them the things I want to ask them." He's actually found out all sorts of interesting things — even from people he's known for ages. "I didn't know this until he was on my show, but Jim Gaffigan played college football at Georgetown." Sport is just one topic that may come up, as Morrissey and his guests explore pop culture and all things comedy. He may even bust out a '70s-era TV reference along the way. "Could you shower with a gay teammate? That was the big NBA story when Jason Collins came out," says Morrissey. "It seem like the media is always trying to make NBA locker rooms out to be like a prison movie or like in The White Shadow, where they're sharing two spigots and singing 'Duke of Earl' a cappella." Morrissey is looking forward to getting out of Los Angeles and coming to Minnesota. Working on the podcast, appearing on several of the late-night chat shows, and going to auditions has him in need of a break. The acting has inspired him to get into better shape, though. "The other day I was sent out to audition for a Kevin James-type," he laughs. "I don't think I want to be in that category yet." 18+; 21+ later shows.
