Much like outdoor patios, neighborhood festivals, and backyard barbeques, custom cars cruising around the cities are a sure sign that summer has arrived. This weekend, the streets of St. Paul will be even flashier, as the 40th annual Back to the '50s Weekend will take over the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The event features over 11,000 street rods, custom jobs, classics rides, and restored vehicles. Garage enthusiasts will be able to chat with owners, pick up information from vendors, partake in Sunday's swap meet, and check out displays. In addition to sparkly cars and the folks who drive them, there will be an arts and craft fair, live music, and kids' activities. Tip: While the vehicles will be cool, sitting in traffic with them is not. You may want to consider hopping on the bus, finding a park and ride option, taking a route that does not involve Snelling Avenue, or biking to the event. For more info, visit www.msra.com.
