Attention spans are at an all-time low, which is why Vine is so awesome. For you old folks who aren't familiar, Vine is the hottest trend in social media. A free app that inspires people to make creative six-second videos, Vine has become all the rage for celebs, comedians, and cat lovers from all over. Comedian Andy Erikson is taking this phenomenon one step further with the first-ever deVine Film Fest, showcasing the very best Vine videos that the Twin Cities comedy and artist community has to offer. "It was inspired by the 10 Second Film Festival," says Erikson. "When I heard it wasn't happening this year, my boyfriend Alex and I decided we wanted to do something that could make up for it." Similar to other festivals, the deVine Film Fest will select winners in different categories, including cats, artistic, and editor's choice, with the winners receiving $200. Despite this being the first installment of deVine, Erikson received over 100 submissions, some of which may not make it to the main stage. "It's interesting to see what people can fit into six seconds," she says. "Some of the stuff we got was really crude or shocking. People like to be shocking." The good news is that no matter how crude or shocking the video may be, it's only six seconds long. 18+.
