In some areas of town, new condo projects seem to pop up like weeds. Meanwhile, the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota (PAM) focuses on working with what our state already has. This Friday, they will be celebrating cherished historic structures with their annual benefit party, (Anti) Wrecking Ball. During the happening, revelers will be treated to live acoustic music from alt-rockers July Fighter, while the Hola Arepa food truck will be serving up Latin street food. Plenty of beer and wine, prizes, and preservation-themed carnival games will keep all entertained, too. Guests will also be able to check out the Soap Factory's current group show, "Art(ists) on the Verge 4," featuring emerging artists on the Minnesota scene. The event coincides with northeast Minneapolis's Art-A-Whirl, so there will be plenty of things to check out nearby afterward as well. Advance registration is requested, so sign up at www.mnpreservation.org or call 651.293.9047.
