When bicycles and hot rods take to the streets, it's a sure sign that spring has arrived. Another welcome indicator of the changing of the seasons is the Saint Paul Art Crawl, a festival where our capital city shows visitors exactly what its creative community has been up to over the colder months. In earlier years, the celebration took place only in downtown and Lowertown. These days, however, happenings sprawl throughout St. Paul, including the Raymond/University area and stops along Grand Avenue. The event features 250 St. Paul artists in 25 buildings. Over the next three days, folks will be able to take in artwork, chat with artists and gallery owners, watch demonstrations, and learn about the many artist lofts scattered throughout the city. The party kicks off Friday at the MMAA Project Space (334 N. Robert St.), where from 4 to 9 p.m. revelers will be able to enjoy live music, sip refreshments from Big Top Liquors, and get a sneak peek at the upcoming Northern Spark Festival.
