Spring brings with it various festivals and holidays. For many European countries, April 30 is Valborgsmässoafton, a celebration honoring the changing of the season with bonfires, good eats, and performances. The American Swedish Institute will be hosting its own shindig this Tuesday with a variety of activities to entertain guests. There will be music outdoors and inside, with sets from locals Teenage Moods, Dan Mariska and the Boys Choir, and DJ Zac HB. In honor of the museum's most recent ongoing exhibition, "#NameThisExhibit: 1200 Birchwood Plaques," six local artists will spend 30 minutes creating their own pieces in the style of the show live in front of revelers. FIKA will be serving up street treats at a few outdoor stands, while indoors the restaurant will be mixing two signature cocktails — a Barrel-Aged Brandy Manhattan (Germain-Robin brandy, Vya vermouth, and Bittercube cherry bark vanilla bitters, topped with a cherry) and a French Gimlet (Prairie Organic vodka, St-Germain, and lime) — as well as offering beer and wine. Planning on biking to the event? Flash your helmet to receive $1 off drinks the entire night. 18+.
