This Friday, ARENA DANCES will host its sixth annual ARENA Bikini benefit featuring the hottest swimwear from local fashion designers. This year, Richard Beckel, Adrienne Yancy, Jay Nelson, Anita Jensen, Raquel Redmond, and Max Lohrbach have created custom swimwear based on the event's theme, neon glam. "ARENA Bikini gives designers a way to step out of the box and make something different," says Sandy Simmons, producer of the evening. "Adrienne, Jay, and Anita are the only designers who typically make bikinis, so the others are really going out of their element." The fashion show will also feature looks from boutiques MartinPatrick3, Nani Nalu, and Rainbow Road. In addition to the runway show, there will also be performances by ARENA dancers. Simmons says this is a great way to expose audiences to modern dance, and give them a taste of what the troupe is all about. The event wouldn't be complete without an after-party, so guests are invited to stay for drinks, music, and dancing following the show. Neon glam will be incorporated into the fashion, decor, and drinks, and guests are encouraged to wear neon to the party as well. "It's going to be the best bikini fashion show in the Twin Cities," Simmons says. "It's going to be sexy, it's going to be fun, and it's a fundraiser. It's a fun party." All proceeds benefit Mathew Jancewski's ARENA DANCES. Tickets are available at arena-dances.org. 21+.
