Last year was not a good one for Tig Notaro. In 2012, the standup comedian ended a relationship, lost her mother in a freak accident, and faced numerous health problems (including breast cancer and pneumonia). In August, she addressed her recent struggles in an epic set that prompted Louis C.K. to proclaim, "In 27 years doing this, I've seen a handful of truly great, masterful standup sets. One was Tig Notaro last night at Largo." Notaro was a regular on The Sarah Silverman Program, has appeared on This American Life, and currently hosts the podcast Professor Blastoff with Kyle Dunnigan and David Huntsberger. She has a low-key narrative style to her standup, often accentuating her stories with long pauses. Presumably, she'll have plenty to talk about for Friday's Wits installment, which also will feature musical guest Kathleen Edwards.
