More About

The History Theatre pulls back the curtain on one of the great couples of the 1920s with This Side of Paradise, a jazzy musical journey through the relationship of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. The author's connection to St. Paul makes the musical a natural choice for the History Theatre, which mounts the show following a successful off-Broadway run. The cast is led by Bradley Beahen and Norah Long as the couple at the center of the story, whose exploits helped to define the Jazz Age for generations to come. Jazz singer and composer Nancy Harrow crafted the music, using her 2003 album Winter Dreams: The Life and Passion of F. Scott Fitzgerald as the foundation. She worked with Will Pomerantz to create the musical, where she delved deeply into the history behind the couple's relationship and the turmoil that was always just a step away. The cast also includes Alan Sorenson as the doctor who treats Zelda after a breakdown, Kendall Anne Thompson as young Zelda, and Eric Knutson as Hemingway. Ron Peluso directs.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 20. Continues through May 19, 2013
