Prepare for your senses to be delightfully overwhelmed with fantastic fiction and poetry from emerging local writers. This Friday, [PANK] and Paper Darts are teaming up for [PANK] Invasion: Minneapolis. The Michigan-based literary arts organization [PANK] encompasses the quirky, experimental PANK Magazine, micro publishing arm Tiny Hardcore Press, and the nationwide reading series Invasions. The evening will feature poet Matt Mauch (curator of Great Twin Cities Poetry Read and Maeve's Sessions), poet and professor Kris Bigalk, and cribbage-obsessed fiction writer Jordan Wiklund. [PANK] smartly invited Twin Cities-based literary magazine and organization Paper Darts to contribute to the lineup as well with three of their own heavy hitters: Katie Sisneros (The Tangential), John Jodzio (Paper Darts' golden boy of odd-ball fiction), and John Brandon, author of three novels published by McSweeney's (most recently A Million Heavens). Called by the New York Times a leading innovator in the U.S. literary world, [PANK] publishes, in their own words, "for the most adventurous readers around the world." If the name is any indication, [PANK] is sure to deliver its trademark punch tonight. The phrase "to pank" means "to make a path," as well as "the act of packing dynamite in copper mines and iron ranges." In other words, KAPOW!
