Maybe they were lazy in picking a name, or maybe the Men chose their moniker because it's so generic it has no particular sonic connotations. After all, over the course of their first three albums, the Brooklyn quartet tried out seemingly every guitar-based rock subgenre out there, starting with blackened psychedelia and blistering hardcore and eventually making their way to quieter strands of Americana. Last year's "Candy" was country-rock classicism, plain and simple.
