Mom may have asked you not to play with your food, but she never said anything about beverages. This Thursday, the Science Museum of Minnesota is hosting an evening of adult fun with booze experimentation. At the Next Social Science: Fermentational Informational, attendees will receive eight beer and wine tickets good for three-ounce tastings from local wineries and breweries in attendance. Cash bars will be available for regular pours throughout the event, too. Beyond sipping and sampling, guests will also be able to play with their drinks. Ever wonder what a beer looks like under a microscope? Get out the beakers and conduct some density experiments. Other happenings include presentations by local experts, pub-style trivia, and music showcasing the physics of these beverages and why we love them. The promised highlight of the party is an appearance by author Mary Roach, who is beloved for her funny nonfiction books Stiff, Spook, and Bonk. Here, she will discuss her newest work, Gulp, studying the path through the gastrointestinal trail. As logic would dictate, this event is for imbibers who are 21 years of age or older.
