Say what? Verbal mashup meets visceral collage in "Visceral Dysentery: Deep Retardant Cuts Craft Dogma," an exhibition that showcases work by HAZE XXL (a.k.a. Tom Hazelmyer) and MATH.i. The former generates visual nightmares in linocut, in which juxtaposed images of children, birds, reptiles, and clowns conjoin — or threaten to — in ways Flemish painter Pieter Bruegel never dreamed. The latter's vintage images are collaged to induce discomforted laughter amid nods of recognition. Both artists are mad scientists of visual culture, past and present. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 6, with music by Seawhores at 10 p.m. (Pictured: Work by Math.i)
